We are not going to tell you NO CANDY at all because there is no fun in that; however the best time to eat candy and sugary foods is with meals or shortly after meals. Saliva production increases during meals and will help to rinse food particles away. When the kiddos are digging through that big candy bag after Halloween night help them make smarter choices, try to avoid the hard or sticky candy that clings to the teeth promoting tooth decay. For children over the age of 6 we recommend chewing a piece of ADA approved gum 20 minutes after eating. Chewing gum will help increase saliva production and neutralize acid in the mouth. Last but not least drink more water, especially fluoridated water which will help prevent tooth decay. WE WISH EVERYONE A FUN AND SAFE HALLOWEEN!!!
